No problem. Simply carry the vacuum cleaner to the other floor, put it down somewhere and press the start button. When the vacuum cleaner is finished, it moves back to the same spot and signals with a beep. The charging station is not needed.
Hello @Nmhedler Good question. The Roomba does not send pictures to the manufacturer. However, it sends a "map" of your home/furniture. Maybe this article can enlighten you: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/25/technology/roomba-irobot-data-privacy.html Basically an exciting topic.
We have a dark red floor made of stone slabs that are textured (uneven). Roomba 980 has no problem with this. Of course, it needs enough brightness to work. If I see it correctly, it has several viewing windows on the bottom, probably to detect steps, and a kind of camera on the top to detect the room. For example, we turn on the light in a dark hallway. With this, the Roomba works flawlessly and systematically works the working area and finally also carefully works the edges. So, we are enthusiastic about the device.
It depends on what they mean by "little things". Basically, the sensor detects something in front of it -> robot slows down until the front of the robot touches the obstacle. If the resistance of the obstacle is high enough to trigger the touch sensor, the robot stops and turns until it passes the obstacle. If the resistance is not high enough, it pushes the obstacle in front of it (rather rarely - it must be quite light at the next wall to trigger the sensor anyway). Small parts are sucked in, you have to take them out of the collection container before you empty it into the waste. However, this is much less tedious than with the hoovers with a bag. The robot has trouble with carpets that are very light (floor runners made of fabric), which it then always pushes around the flat or until they throw "waves" and the resistance becomes too high and the robot thinks it is an obstacle. This does not happen with real carpets that are not too thick, the robot drives on them and the increase in suction power is clearly noticeable. Another important point (I have had an IRobot for several years and just bought the 980 because my old 580 had to retire) is that the robot does not replace hand vacuuming, but if it runs 2-3 times a week, it picks up most of the loose dust in the places where you spend most of your time. In the kitchen, it can also pick up all the crumbs that fall on the floor every day and spread around. And that is also the huge advantage that such a device offers. It's also good for regularly vacuuming the dust under the sofa and beds. The hand hoover is used once a Monday to vacuum the places where the robot can't get to.
Hello Pierhoefer Thank you for your question. No, unfortunately this is not possible with the Roomba 980. We are sorry not to be able to give you more positive feedback. Please feel free to contact us directly with any further questions or uncertainties. Best regards, Your iRobot Team
Hello Anonymous Thank you for your question. To do this, go to the "Schedule" and " + Create schedule" in your app. Select the time of the morning cleaning and all the desired days of the week and save the schedule. To have it clean again in the afternoon, simply create a second schedule with the desired time in the afternoon and the corresponding weekdays. Please note that the two cleaning schedules must be 3 hours apart in terms of time. If you have any further questions or are unsure, please feel free to contact us directly by phone on +41 62 746 06 74. Best regards, Your iRobot Team
Hi _Tamara_ Roomba 980 has a stronger batterie which is able to perform a longer cleaning performance. Also Roomba 980 has a Carpet Power Boosts. He doubles the vacuuming power on carpet. Best wishes Your iRobot Team
Hello TheGloryV Correct, both devices need to learn the Smart Map themselves as they create the SmartMap differently for their applications. For example, thresholds and carpets are obstacles on the Braava Jet m6, but not on the Roomba s9. Best Regards Your iRobot Team
I don't know the difference. The difference can certainly be found on the internet. I can only contribute my experience as a user. The 980 is top! I would buy it again and again. It works perfectly. We use it every day. Because of our dog, there is always dog hair on the floor. During the dog walk (our dog doesn't love the 980) we have it vacuumed. Works well. Goes well into corners and over carpets. Everything can be controlled from the app. Simply a relief in the household.
Doesn't seem to be programmed very intelligently.
The problem is colour changes to black, e.g. on carpets. These are interpreted as holes and are bypassed. There is no solution, but according to iRobot, the i and s series do not seem to have the problem: https://homesupport.irobot.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/646/~/will-my-roomba%C2%AE-work-on-dark-or-black-surfaces%3F
Hello Axelpfander The Roomba 980 runs on a 3'300 mAh lithium-ion battery. What do you mean by "estimated number of charge cycles"? Best regards Your iRobot Team
We already had these in our range. Unfortunately, we can't get any from our supplier at the moment. The delivery time at the German shop is also a little longer. However, as soon as we have the possibility to obtain the devices again, we will offer the hoovers. Unfortunately, we do not know how long this will take.
I'd have to measure it in my bathroom, but it's about 3-4 cm.
It has no external adapter - the power supply is integrated in the charging station - it is a normal 2-pin power cable that is connected to the charging station.

According to the item description, digitec/galaxus gives you a 5-year bring-in guarantee.
No I believe you have to use the light barriers to stop the robot from going to areas you do not want it to go.
Hi Timber01 I have a white cat at home that sheds a lot of hair. The Roomba 980 sucks up all the hair and generally cleans very well. It's best to give the machine a rough clean daily or every two days. Cleaning takes less than 5 minutes. Then possibly do a basic cleaning (approx. 10-15 minutes) once a week. This way the robot always remains efficient. You can simply move the robot to another room or close your room when you are working. Because of the sensors, it simply cleans wherever it goes. If a door is closed, it sees that as an obstacle. You also get two small containers where you can place it and tell it that it never has to clean here. Questions? 079 301 12 11
Not as far as I know. You can block this with the virtual barriers. Then he won't drive in there either. Cleaning zones are not yet possible with this model.
No. But when it has finished sucking you can look at the map if you have activated it.
