This integrated pulley makes the gas mechanism method superfluous when belaying. The rope glides more smoothly through the device. In the event of a fall or if the climber needs to take a break while checking out the route, the rope tightens, blocking the wheel. The clamping cam rotates, causing the rope to be clamped and blocked. Sounds technical, it certainly is, but it works very well in practice - we were impressed by the easy handling when we tested it on the wall. To leave the clamping position again after a fall or a break, the release lever is operated and either the route continues upwards or the partner is lowered. By progressively regulating the rope flow with the lever, it is possible to lower the climbing partner evenly and comfortably. Nice! The Petz belay device consists of two side parts which are slid on to insert the rope. How to insert the rope is shown on the inside and outside of the Neox®.
