With the included WD Backup software, you will never lose your photos again. Simply set up an automatic backup, and all the desired data from your system will be regularly saved to your My Passport Ultra. You only need to choose when and how often your data should be backed up.
Importing and Backing Up Cloud Files
The included WD Discovery software supports numerous services such as Facebook, Instagram, Dropbox, and Google Drive. Easily import your photos, videos, and documents to the My Passport Ultra, thus protecting your online files on reliable hardware.
Security through Hardware Encryption
The built-in 256-bit AES hardware encryption ensures optimal data protection. With the WD Security software, you can further configure the security settings. Activate password protection and create a personal password. You can even add a "Please return to" message in the password entry field, in case your hard drive gets lost.
The 1 TB variant is available only in silver.

Compared to SSDs, the "WD My Passport" offers a lot of capacity for little money. It is also fast enough for streaming and backups in the background. The only downside is that, despite the suggestion in the name, there is no USB-C port. Instead, buyers will have to resort to an adapter.
In the 500 GB SSD category, the Asus ROG Strix Arion S (for 145 euros) came out on top. Not quite as fast, but also not as expensive and thus the price-performance winner is the Intenso Portable SSD Professional (80 euros). Among the SSDs with 1000GB, the WD My Passport SSD came out on top in a top trio with very high speed...
