LinkBuds Open: The innovative ring driver of these in-ear headphones provides a unique listening experience. You can be completely aware of the world around you while listening to music or podcasts.
The ergonomic design fits comfortably in the ear, while the air cushion gives each in-ear headphone a secure fit. Weighing in at a feather-light 4.8g per earbud, the LinkBuds Open are ideal for all-day comfort and exercise.
Enjoy the balanced, first-class sound quality of the specially designed, ring-shaped 11 mm driver. Sony's Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) restores high-frequency elements lost during compression and enhances each track through upscaling.
With the easy-to-use equaliser in the headphone app, you can adjust the sound to suit your preferences.
The wireless headphones offer up to 22 hours of continuous playback (8 hours via headphones + 14 hours via the case). The quick-charging function enables a further hour of playback time in just 3 minutes.
Choose between three colours and five additional coloured protective covers (sold separately) to create your own individual look.
Multipoint Connection allows you to connect two Bluetooth devices simultaneously and switch seamlessly between them. There are also several user-friendly control options using taps, voice commands and the app on your smartphone.
The LinkBuds Open have an environmentally friendly design. The headphones and case are made from recycled plastic and the packaging is 100% plastic-free.

- Institution
- Compact charging cradle
- do not fit ideally in the ear
- App overloaded
- Sound only mediocre
I would describe the LinkBuds from Sony as standard fare. The headphones work as they should and deliver a decent sound. However, in the now very saturated true wireless market, you can find better products for the same price - both in terms of sound, app and operation.
- Good sound quality
- Long battery life
- Comprehensive equaliser
- Feature-rich mobile app
- Somewhat weak bass
- Insecure grip during sport
- Long runtime
- Nice and light
- App with many functions
- Basses have hardly any substance
- sit wobbly
Sony tackles the topic of open-ears in its own way, but is unable to secure a top position. Although the rings sitting in front of the ear canals are lightweight, they are not as comfortable to wear as the surface-mounted competition. With flat bass, the Link-Buds also play in the lower mid-range in terms of sound.
- Long runtime
- good app
- Open and comfortable design
- Basses expandable
- never fit perfectly in the ear
The new Sony LinkBuds cut a fine figure in both versions. In addition to the very long battery life, this is due to the good sound quality during phone calls and the great app. Nevertheless, there are problems here and there: Although the Open are pleasantly open, wearing comfort and sound are not always ideal. The Fit scores highly in terms of sound, but the noise cancellation is rather weak.
