Great new model
The battery lasts almost 2 hours when recording at 1080p and 30 fps. Also, this format and this speed allow a good software stabilization of the image (except if you go too fast). Recording at 60 fps would improve stabilization, but it is at the expense of battery life and the processor will also struggle to keep up. At 4K and 60 fps, the image can hardly be stabilized by the camera software. Moreover, at this speed, the battery is drained in 20 minutes ... (see less)

I replaced my Hero 5 black with the 9. Use it with the housing and filters for diving.

Milestones
I've been a GoPro fan for a long time and have had a Gopro on and off (the last one was the 7). The difference to the 9 is insane! Whether mounted on a mountain bike or sled, or underwater against shark, simply sensational and steady pictures (the function against shaking is sensational and worlds better than any other device I have).
So for all adrenaline junkies an absolute must!Pro

It's GoPro, TOP for video, mediocre for photo
A good, if not the best, action camera that can be equipped with well thought out and practical accessories. The quality of the photos is acceptable for viewing on a screen and without enlargement, but beyond that the smoothing and loss of fine details are very strong. But it is a camera and not a stills camera.

Film camera except for low light
All top of the line.

I primarily bought the camera for underwater photography. I don't think it's suitable for that. There are definitely better ones. Otherwise it has a great picture. In general, the pictures are great, great colours and easy to handle. I can recommend it.
I am completely satisfied. But it gets quite warm during use.

Good cam, but.
I deliberately bought the 9 and not the 10 because I thought all teething troubles would be eliminated. Unfortunately, but the stabilization does not seem to eliminate all vibrations (on the handlebars with long RAM Mount). Did not happen with the Hero 7. Annoying: after only a 900 km tour with Media MOD failed partially the sound recording. Is in Abklaerung.

Tiptop camera, very poor software
I bought the camera as a gift for my wife. Her smartphone which is newer than mine, but does not connect to the camera. With mine it works. After two days of use, the camera started rebooting every 5 seconds with a green screen. The only thing that helped so far was to do a complete factory reset. Unfortunately I have already thrown away the packaging, otherwise I would have returned the camera.
