Recently, camera manufacturers have criminally neglected entry-level cameras. As a result, hardly any new models have come onto the market that are available from specialist retailers for less than 1000 euros - let alone for less than 500 euros. In the days of DSLRs, the choice in this price range was much greater...
The Z5 is Nikon's entry-level model into the full-frame Z world. It is also available in a practical kit with the Nikkor Z 4-6.3/24-50 mm, which can be locked in a compact parking position. In combination with the FTZ adapter, SLR lenses can be used. We can recommend the Z5 to get a taste of full-frame air at a favourable price...
The Nikon Z5 is not a surprise package, it has a lot in common with the Z6/Z6 Il: the 24 MP sensor (but no BSI CMOS), the integrated image stabiliser, the high-quality OLED viewfinder and a similar range of functions. At least this applies to still image photography; filming is more limited...
- Very large
- Very detailed viewfinder
- with kit lens small and light
- Films in 4K as an excerpt
- moderate continuous shooting speed
Simple operation, top image quality and a really good viewfinder - the Z5 satisfies even the most demanding photographers. The kit zoom is nice and small and surprisingly good: in terms of image quality, it can keep up with significantly more expensive lenses. There are two main drawbacks: The continuous shooting speed is comparatively slow at 4.5 frames per second, and the Z5 films with pixel-perfect...

Nikon's new full-frame camera impresses with its great image quality, powerful new functions such as pixel shift and high speed. If you like retro design and operation, you will also get a technically outstanding camera here. Photographers who prefer the modern operating concept can hope for a Z6lll with the same inner values...
