Extending the focal length by 1.4x is ideal for press, nature and sports photographers.
The extender features lenses made of high refractive and low dispersion glass. This counteracts image field curvature and chromatic aberration for excellent image quality. In addition to optimized lens coatings, a 3-layer combination lens helps reduce ghosting by minimizing the number of critical glass/air surfaces. The outer surface of the barrel is coated with the same white heat-repellent coating as the RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM and RF 70-200mm lenses. This prevents performance degradation at high temperatures.
