Bread has always been one of the basic foods of mankind and is eaten regularly in almost all parts of the world. It takes many different forms: While the origins of crispbread, for example, can be traced back to Scandinavia, bhaturas, naans and rotis, which are now popular worldwide as an accompaniment to various curries, are rooted in parts of Asia. In this country in particular, however, the mass of bread varieties is unmanageable: the German Bread Institute currently lists more than = 3,200 of them that can be purchased in Germany - although the real number is likely to be much higher, as not every new creation from a bakery immediately comes to the attention of the relevant authorities. From simple wholemeal bread made from wholemeal wheat flour, water & co. to sweetish loaves containing butter and milk through to exquisite nut bread, everything you can imagine is available here. Baking projects know no bounds here, which is just one of the many reasons why many consumers sometimes turn their home kitchen into a bakery to prepare bread according to their personal preferences.
