Philips Shaver Series 8000 S8697/35 Wet & Dry electric shaver
Philips Shaver Series 8000 S8697/35 Wet & Dry electric shaver
On the whole, a great product for those who want to have smooth skin and shave regularly before the hair grows longer. No signs of skin irritation after shaving, top!!!
Only with longer hair does it show small weaknesses, but that's perfectly fine. Cleaning is simple and easy, and the shaver can be easily disassembled for this purpose.
You even have control over the shave via the app and can shave as gently as possible.
In addition, the shaver has a trimmer to cut long hair.
Next time, include a power supply for the charging station and you'll get 5 points!

I bought this product to make my beard...
A) thorough...
B) smooth...
C) gentle on the skin...
...shave. According to the description, these are exactly the strengths of the shaver.
Even when following all the manufacturer's recommendations, whether wet or dry shaving, stubble remains and the skin is irritated (yes, even when shaving for 3 minutes).
Unfortunately, I can't return the product either, as razors are no longer taken back for hygienic reasons.
A classic bad purchase, I would have rather saved the money.
I have been using Philips shavers for many years and have always been very satisfied with all the models I have bought - including this one.

After 9 years I was looking for a successor for my faithful and reliable 9000 (S9711/31).
I was satisfied until the end.
That's how I became aware of this model.
I also bought and tested the cleaning station.
Now about the device:
I am a user and fan of Philips shaving technology. I have been getting along best with this and the result for decades. And yes, I have tested other products again and again.
The shaving quality, also with regard to razor burn, has once again improved compared to its predecessor - which I did not expect - great!
Unfortunately, the angular sliding plates around the shaving heads prove to be a curse and a blessing at the same time:
On the one hand, you clearly notice that there is less skin irritation and a smoother, easier shave.
On the other hand, shaving around problem areas such as nose, ears or stools is more difficult. You always have a clumsy feeling of not having removed everything, or not being able to. With a little practice, it works.
For cleaning - cool! There is a folding mechanism that can be opened with a button -> that's how it should be!
Cleaning without the station is easy and uncomplicated with the shaving head open under running water and drying in the stand provided - perfect.
I bought the cleaning station separately because I wanted it. In retrospect, I would buy the set. It works without it, but I see the added value in the care of the product. This is particularly noticeable when you are travelling and have to use treated water for cleaning.
The charging time is short (1 hour) and usually lasts for about 1.5 - 2 weeks, depending on how long you shave. The charging cable is a USB cable. I think it is contemporary, everyone should have a plug-in power supply and it is cheaper than a general power supply with a plug.
The app is okay - I don't need it.
I hope the review has helped.

I am extremely excited about my new Philips Shaver Series 8000 shaver. The scope of delivery is extensive and consists of the shaver, a cleaning brush, charging cable and charging station as well as a travel case, instructions for use and warranty card. I find the case particularly practical, as I travel a lot for work. It also looks very high quality. The shaver feels good in the hand, shaves very thoroughly and quietly. It glides over the skin very well without irritating it. The 72 SteelPrecision blades and the flexible shaving head adapt well to the contours of the face. I love that the shaver can also be used in the shower. After shaving, the shaver is easy and uncomplicated to clean. The battery also lasts a long time. Conclusion: A great shaver that is absolutely worth the money. I give it a very clear buy recommendation!

Compared to my previous Philips shaver (PT860, see picture), I notice some positive improvements. The S8697 is (perceived) a little lighter and slimmer and feels good in the hand. On the other hand, it has unfortunately become much longer and therefore no longer fits in the previous storage space in the vanity drawer (which was no longer a problem after a "reorganisation" there). The shaving result is noticeably better and smoother than with the old model, especially in critical areas such as under the lower jaw towards the neck area. However, the shape of the shaving head unit is more angular and larger on the outside, so you can't get into the nostril areas as well. And occasionally the head gets slightly and briefly caught on one of my more seniorly concise skin folds - but this is not a major problem. Since the shaving head unit is completely removable, it can also be cleaned more thoroughly under running water - the slight fear with the previous model of putting the inside of the device under too much water is completely eliminated here. All in all, the S8697 is a very good device that once again confirms my preference for the Philips shaver principle with the three round shaving blades.
