Andy hasn't played with Woody, Buzz, and the other toys in a long time. In just a few days, the boy is going to college, but he still wants to take little Sheriff Woody with him. The other toys aren't so lucky. They end up in a trash bag on the street. Woody knows that Andy didn't want to throw away his childhood friends, but the others don't believe him.
