Z-Wave Popp Z-Rain Rain Gauge detects and reports precipitation. It measures the exact amount of rainfall and transmits both the current and cumulative rainfall in m³/m². The Popp Z-Rain is not just a rain sensor, but also a rain gauge that provides the precise amount of rainfall. You will be notified when it starts to rain and your (roof) windows are still open, or if you want to intelligently control your garden irrigation while taking into account the amount of rainfall? No problem with the Z-Rain.

How it works: The Z-Rain has a small tilting mechanism inside, where rainwater collects until the weight of the water causes the mechanism to tip. The tipping actions are registered and counted by a sensor to determine the amount of precipitation. Immediately after the first tipping action, and thus right after the rain shower begins, the Z-Rain reports the first cumulative value to the Z-Wave Smart Home Hub. This way, you can be informed in time via push or email notification about open windows and have awnings automatically closed.

Advantages: The biggest advantage of the Z-Rain is that it not only detects that it is raining but also measures the exact amount of rainfall. This allows you to set the threshold for how much rain you want to be notified about or what additional actions are necessary. During precipitation, the Z-Rain transmits the currently measured rainfall to the Z-Wave Smart Home Hub every 1024 seconds. If no precipitation is detected anymore, the Z-Rain will send the last measured rainfall value before resetting it back to zero.
