The unique formulation of cotton wool, soaked in a mixture of petroleum jelly and various paraffin waxes, was so successful from the very beginning that it has hardly needed any changes to this day. The success story of Ohropax begins in the early 20th century in the vibrant capital Berlin, a place that was then synonymous with bustling activity, endless noise, and a hectic leap into a new era. Here, the resourceful pharmacist Maximilian Negwer launched his sound-dampening wax balls for everyone as the first product of its kind. Inspired by Homer's famous depiction of the Greek hero Odysseus, who had the ears of his crew sealed with balls of beeswax to protect them from the deadly song of the Sirens, Negwer literally created a classic with Ohropax that still makes the luxury of silence accessible today.
