I compare the device with the Thermomix TM 6, as this would probably be the alternative to this device for most other customers. I own the device now for 3 months and have cooked quite a bit with it.
I bought the device to make cooking easier and faster. You can put all the ingredients for a sauce or soup in the device, 25 minutes later it beeps and everything is ready. After the meal, you put water and detergent in the pot and after 1min the device is so clean that you no longer have to clean it. I am really convinced by the slicing and grating attachment. It's the same as Magimix's food processors, which I recommend to anyone who does a lot of vegetable ricing or dips and the like.
The device is amazingly quiet when mixing (viiiiel quieter than the Thermomix).
What I am not so convinced is:
- The performance when steaming and sautéing (eg onions taste more like boiled than steamed).
- The handling: lid drips partly over ventilation slots (can be avoided with practice), lid cap gets very hot, lowest stirring level is too fast.
- Some recipes: our running gag is the pumpkin soup with scampi or the porridge that consists only of milk and oatmeal (who eats it like that?) and is still firm to the bite at the end.
- You need some time until you know how to set the device correctly for your own recipes. With the Thermomix you have so many recipes that you do not have to worry about something like that.
- The customer support of Magimix has only responded to my French request, took two weeks to respond. He helped me, but informed me that he is not actually responsible. The recipe book shipping also took a long time.
Bottom line, I'm not particularly happy with the unit. For most people, I would recommend a Thermomix + Magimix food processor. However, for certain users (has smaller kitchen, doesn't want to spend 1800 Fr, has baby that shouldn't be woken up) the device does make sense.

Totally worth it. It has changed my wife's life (and mine!)

The decision for the magimix cook expert fell in competition with a Thermomix and the Kenwood Cooking Chef. With the Thermomix bothered me that the operation is so loud and is not very inviting for own creations. The Kenwood Cooking Chef is a great appliance with lots of accessories. However, no cooking programs. So if you want to switch off your brain in between and the device is in an open kitchen, the magimix is recommended in my view. Just because of the egg whites would be worth buying.

So this thing is very nice, but if you're in CH check that the cookbook and manual come with it, they are important to get started and you pay for that damn book. Mine was not there (I imagine because of 3 languages in CH), and it took 1month+ with customer service to finally get it sent to me. Not the most efficient bunch there. Otherwise happy purchase mostly!

After 4 weeks it is kaput. must now wait at least 6 weeks. For the price it is unfortunately suboptimal. :((
