The DeLonghi Magnifica S ECAM 22.110.B is not exactly a luxurious coffee machine. In testing, however, it was able to convince in one very important category: taste. Here, the inexpensive machine works on a par with much more expensive models. On the other hand, the Magnifica S has many small peculiarities that take some getting used to.

The ECAM 22.110.B from De`Longhi is the price-performance winner in the test. It does take a little longer to heat up than some of its competitors and the milk foam could be frothier. Otherwise, it is uncomplicated and worth its price of just under 300 euros.

Practice makes perfect. Compact device with conventional steam nozzle. Makes good espresso and milk foam. But at first, nothing works without instructions until you know the symbols on the display by heart. Manual milk frothing also requires practice. Other weaknesses: Water tank somewhat sensitive to shocks, machine somewhat noisy.
