If you have a shoebox full of negatives and a few slides that you'd like to finally digitize, you have four options:
1) hire a professional service provider
2) scan with a scanner (negative or flatbed scanner)
3) take pictures with a slide duplicator at the digicam
4) photograph the negatives/slides with a device like this one
Conclusion:
1) it's expensive and you rarely need professional scans for family photos
2) unfortunately it takes forever and seven years
3) is complicated to set up (with slide projector) or depends on the light used
4) digitizing is quick and easy - but the result is just so-so
To make yourself a picture: Attached are two photos from a 400 ASA film from anno 1997. The first picture is a 600 DPI scan of an analog developed 10x13cm paper picture the second one is a 1800 DPI scan of the corresponding 36x24mm negative.
The optical resolution given at Digitec/Galaxus is not correct because it describes the interpolated resolution. The Reflecta X33 resolves 1800x1200 DPI (gives 14 Megapixel instead of 22 interpolated), which is actually sufficient resp. interpolated it doesn't get any better.

If you're looking for a quality scan of your film, you'll have to pass. The colours are strange and the scans have shadows on the sides, even when scanning in total darkness. Scans are generally of poor quality. Comparing scans developed and scanned in my photo shop with those made by this scanner, the difference in quality is enormous. If you're a casual film photography enthusiast, no worries, but if you're more serious about your photography, you'll have to pass.

The device is easy to use and scans films in reasonable resolution. Absolutely not recommended for people who want a clear, sharp image. My scans have bright shadows on the sides, which doesn't look very nice. In retrospect, I should have turned off the lights in the room, they would probably have come out better.
For simple family photos that you just want to digitise, top.

In my opinion, the scanner is suitable for archive work. For high-quality prints, however, you need high-quality scans. For images that are printed, I use a plustek scanner, which works much more slowly.

Objective: To view and scan 1000s of attic slides and negatives with unknown content as a "normal person". Reflekta scanner ideal if it doesn't have to be fast or super professional. Absolutely sufficient for the hobby photographer. Later reworking on the PC is possible, editing on the scanner itself is relatively limited, but I only have material older than 40 years, so the image quality is different anyway. The quality on a 27" screen is amazing.
Convenient work while watching a film, for example. Insert SD, scan, when SD full "transfer" to e.g. PC.
The only real disadvantage is cleaning the mirror with compressed air, which I don't have and the mirror gets dusty very quickly, especially with old scan material.
