Significant Personality - Gustav Stresemann
In addition to his outstanding political career, including serving as Foreign Minister of the Weimar Republic, Gustav Stresemann (1878-1929) also became known for the design of a suit. This suit was ideal for public appearances and could also be worn casually in the office. At the same time, the striped fountain pens from Pelikan began their global triumph: suddenly, the public also referred to these as "Stresemann." This made the writing instruments personalities in their own right. Even today, both the suit and the fountain pen bear the name Stresemann. To honor the legend, Pelikan has officially named the Souverän with stylish anthracite stripes the Stresemann.
Souverän 405 Stresemann
The production of the Souverän barrel involves a complex process, as a striped piece of material is crafted from cotton in many steps according to a special formula developed for Pelikan. This material is bent and then shaped to contour with a diamond. The palladium rings on the grip and cap are fitted with the utmost precision before the writing instrument is polished to a high gloss. The slightly springy, characteristic Pelikan beak clip gives this high-quality writing instrument its distinctive design. The Souverän M405 piston fountain pen features a fully rhodium-plated 14-carat gold nib and is available in nib widths EF, F, M, and B. The M nib provides a medium-wide writing style and is particularly suitable for handwriting with slightly larger strokes.
