If that doesn’t help, contact shields can protect your nipples while still allowing you to breastfeed.

If you have inverted or flat nipples, your baby may have difficulty latching on. Inverted or flat nipples often do not reach the baby's palate, which can result in a lack of sucking reflex. However, this does not exclude breastfeeding. Contact shields come to the rescue; they are also tasteless and BPA-free, so your child will not notice any difference when using them.

If the baby is having trouble latching onto the breast, shields are a short-term solution. Once your baby gets used to breastfeeding and has developed the strength to suck, you can start weaning them off the use of nipple shields.
