when is crossover required and when straight? would like to connect the tv to the router...
Nowadays you no longer need crossover cables. The devices now do this themselves for what you used to need a crossover cable for.
Therefore, you actually only buy normal (straigth) cables.

It's like Gschwinds wrote. If reasonably new hardware (from the last 10 years) is used, crossover is no longer needed.
The hardware regulates this automatically. That means you could also use a crossover cable, it doesn't matter.
I would rather pay attention to the quality of the cable and recommend a Cat.6/Cat.6a with S/FTP shielding. Unless you need a flexible cable, then U/UTP (unshielded, therefore more susceptible to interference) is also possible.
The LogiLink cable should actually work without any problems.
Crossover ist um zwei Router miteinander zu verbinden und Straight ist das normale Lan Kabel (Router -> Endgerät)
