Question about Value Toslink

I would like to listen to radio stations offered by Swisscom TV via my old stereo system. The TV has a digital audio out (optical) output, the stereo has a digital in connection for the CD player, otherwise only an audio in and an aux/dat connection with RCA plug. Can I connect a Toslink cable from the TV directly to the stereo? Do I have to connect the TV box to the TV via a short Toslink cable first, so that I make the connection via an optical splitter (I'll call it a double plug)? Or do I have to connect the Toslink cable directly to the TV box? Can I use the input for the CD player on the system with an optical distributor plug? Or are there Toslink cables that have an optical plug for the TV or TV box on the one hand and a cinch plug for the system on the other? Or does that not work at all, and I simply need 2 optical plugs? Or do I have to forget the whole thing because of the lack of a second optical connection on the system? Questions about questions, I know! But because of my lack of technical knowledge, maybe the last one is the most important? I hope that I have at least explained my problem in a reasonably understandable way and thank you in advance for an answer, even if the last question would have to be answered with "no" :-(

Hello Dieter

You know that this is a question about the cable and not about a sound problem on your part :)
Define "old stereo"... I need model and brand, type.
Then I use the magic hand of Google's and with a little magic, you get your answer ;)
Greetings
