I would like to upgrade my home network. At the moment I only have the UPC Connect Box. I would switch it to bridge mode and put a Fritzbox behind it. I have the 7590 and the 4040 in mind. Technically, the 7590 would be the best for me. My question: Is it worth going with the 7590, which is twice as expensive, or does it not offer enough advantages in my setup compared to the 4040?

Helpful answer

The main differences between the 4040 and the 7590 are:

- The 4040 delivers 866 + 400 Mbps for WLAN vs. the 7590's 1,733 + 800 Mbps.
- The 4040 has no telephone exchange for analogue, ISDN, DEC, fax, answering machine, the 7590 is fully equipped.
- The 4040 does not offer a direct connection for DSL or VDSL, e.g. if you want to leave out the Cablecom box.
- The 4040 offers 1 USB 2.0 port and 1 USB 3.0 port, the 7590 offers 2 USB 3.0 ports.

If you don't need all this, but only want to block the visibility of the devices installed in the house to Cablecom, the 4040 is also sufficient. I myself have decided on the 7590, bypass the Cablecom box and operate an Apple TV 4k with e.g. the Zattoo app for TV. This works perfectly and I am very happy with it. I hope this helps with the decision.

I have both in use (in the mesh compound).
Both are very good! However, the 7590 has a much greater range, so it also depends on how large the coverage should be. And the 7590 also has more throughput. I would go for the more expensive one, otherwise you might regret it in 1 year in terms of range or throughput.

The 7590 has faster internet and can be used as a telephone system (incl. DECT).
