Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine - Special Edition
Hi all, my network consisting of UDM Pro SE, 1x Switch US-8 and 2x AP U6-Pro at the Internet Box 4 (XGS-PON, 10Gbit) is basically running but I am not satisfied with the performance. I also play in the network with Xbox Series X or on the PC. For example, I have a problem with the Xbox app on the PC that it takes an extremely long time to set up a download and then only sets up slowly with the download speed starting at bits/s. The app also crashes when I download a file. The app also crashes when I download a game that has a lot of add-ons. I have also contacted Microsoft support, who have made various configurations with PowerShell via Remothilfe, but unfortunately this hasn't really helped much. Today I found out by chance that it is due to the UDM network, because I connected the PC via Wlan directly to the IB4 from Swisscom and then the download always started immediately everywhere. I also noticed, for example, that with Apple devices in the settings, at the top of the name (iCloud), the list of own devices is not loaded or only very slowly, or it even says ''No more available''. But if I connect the device to the IB4 WLAN, they are loaded immediately. I'm just not satisfied and maybe it's a bit too complicated for me and that's why I'm asking for help, maybe via remote maintenance or something. I would also pay something for it. So far, the following is simply configured; UDM Pro SE has 10.10.10.0, IB4 I have DMZ, Static IP and Static Route for the UDM Pro SE. I would be very happy about any help, I will gladly accept tips - thank you for your attention 🙂
The same in my case UDM SE is functional and efficient, even if I regret that some advanced features are missing.
Reading your question, the address given to the UDM SE catches my attention "10.10.10.0" what subnet mask did you use?
Good morning, I have the Dream Machine SE in use at two locations and am very happy with it, I can't notice any loss of speed either. However, I don't have 10Gb available at either location yet. It is only prepared.
But there is the possibility in the Dream Machine and with the respective devices to test the speeds of the respective machines via the browser menu.
My system is not used for gaming, but to achieve a Synology Nas and high throughputs in the area of image/video processing. So I decided to connect the machines that need fast throughput entirely with cable. And this cable network has the full 10GB internally.
With the SE there are "only" 2 sockets that allow the 10Gb throughput, all other Lan sockets "only" run on 1GB. Wifi doesn't allow 10Gb speed either, but as far as I know only something between 3 and 4 Gb - depending on the Wifi controller.
My remote approach would be to measure the speed step by step.
The Swisscom router seems to have full speed. Is the Lan cable really plugged in as a 10GB connection from the Swisscom router to the DreamMachine and does it also work on 10GB? If so, measure the speed at the DreamMachine... then the connected devices.
This way you could at least determine whether the basic throughput that is to be achieved penetrates to the end device and not somewhere a "brake" from 10Gb to 1GB takes place.
If all this is the case and the problems still occur, then it is really more a matter of the smaller details of the configuration to find out where the problem lies.
