A product from Huawei is generally a risk, because there are various countries that have imposed trade restrictions on the manufacturer's products. The Huawei 5G router contains a Balong 5000 chipset, but I don't know what it can or cannot do, it's unknown, neither Qualcomm nor Mediatek. I would bet on the two manufacturers when it comes to 5G. In general, a 5G router must be placed near a window or operated with external antennas.

If, for example, Swisscom offers moderate 5G reception, it would also be conceivable to achieve better reception at the same location with Sunrise, which could be tested with the Digital Republic SIM, for example. I would also not rely on older technology, many routers still use the outdated Qualcomm X55 chipset, Qualcomm offers the much more modern X62 chipset module in newer devices, but these routers are still relatively rare.

With the 5G Pro CPE router, Xiaomi is launching a model on the market that is equipped with the modern X62 chipset, which also ensures better reception characteristics. The antennas built into the router also make a big difference, but you can't always tell from the outside how many of them there are, often there are four. But as already mentioned, the devices should be placed near a window, in the room does not give good reception.

The Huawei 5G CPE Pro 2 router - from my experience in Ticino - is very good.

However, some care is required:
- Decisive is the strength of the incoming signal. The 4G signal (fourth generation) is much lower than the 5G signal (fifth generation). With the 5G signal in the Locarno area, I regularly get 500 Mbps download with maximums up to around 650 Mbps and 45-60 Mbps upload.
- For the signal to be received optimally (this applies to any router), the best place in the flat to position the router must be found, and once the position has been found, the best reception direction must also be found by turning the router on itself until the maximum signal is received.
- The SIM card and the subscription conditions are also decisive.
I have a Swisscom subscription that offers me the maximum possible connection. Other less expensive Swisscom subscriptions do not allow the same results. You have to be aware of this.

If you use the Huawei 5G CPE Pro 2 with a SIM card that guarantees unlimited reception and you are in an area where there is good 5G coverage, and if you position and orient the router well, the result should be optimal.
