yes, the Common Interface Adapter works with the Samsung JS8080. I myself use it in a Samsung JS8580. I also recommend that you check that the latest firmware is installed.
Another side note: When recording an encrypted channel, it is not possible to watch another channel that is also encrypted. In this case, the simultaneous recording and viewing of another programme is somewhat limited. In addition, I experienced 'interference' during recording when I wanted to watch a vdr-scrambled programme at the same time. So be careful when switching if the recording is considered important.
