The Ultrastar DC HC530, part of the HC500 series of helium-filled hard drives, delivers exceptional capacity for your business. The hard drive is designed for workloads of up to 550 TB per year and is based on conventional magnetic recording technology (CMR). A selection of 6 Gb/s SATA and 12 Gb/s SAS interfaces allows for easy integration into high-performance data centers.

Based on proven HelioSeal technology, this hard drive offers one of the lowest power profiles in the industry to help data center architects meet environmental goals and requirements. The DC HC530 is rated for 2.5 million hours MTBF and provides one of the highest reliability levels currently available on the market.

Compared to 8 TB air-filled hard drives, this HelioSeal drive offers 75% more capacity and is 58% more energy-efficient (Watt/TB). New features include a third-generation dual-stage actuator - the Western Digital Micro-Actuator - which improves head positioning accuracy to ensure better performance, data integrity, and overall drive reliability, especially in multi-drive environments where operational vibrations are present.
