Rank 1 out of 8Computer BildTest SSDs - M.2-SSDs PCI-Express 4.0ReleaseMarch 2021

Curious: among the fast PCI Express 4.0 SSDs, two models achieved both test and price-performance victory thanks to identical test scores and the same sales price - the Western Digital Black SN850 and the Samsung 980 Pro. This is rare for Computer Bild.

It's fascinating how fast SSDs have become - even faster with PCIe 4.0. However, this comparative test also seems to reveal an unattractive tendency: The faster the SSDs become, the less durable they are likely to be. At least that is what the TBW suggests. However, we did not measure this.

Computer BildSingle testReleaseFebruary 2021

What a debut: The Western Digital WD Black SN850 was faster in the test than any other SSD in the Computer Bild lab. It is therefore the new number one SSD, albeit a rather expensive one: it costs twice as much as a comparable PCI Express 3.0 SSD.

The WD_Black SN850 is the clear test winner. It is faster than all the others, but you still have to buy a heat sink.
