WD Black SN850
2000 GB, M.2 2280Product details
This SSD transfers data using PCI-Express, which puts it far ahead of traditional SATA SSDs in terms of transfer rates. M.2 SSDs are installed via the M.2 socket on the motherboard. Due to their compact dimensions, they are particularly suitable for use in ultrabooks and mini-PCs, but can also be used in standard computers. This SSD shines especially in systems with NVMe support. Users benefit from high throughput, high IOPS, and low latency. Unlike the older AHCI protocol, which was designed for traditional spinning drives, NVMe prevents performance drops, offers faster transfer of large data volumes, increased boot speeds, and improved system responsiveness.

Reviews & Ratings
The WD_Black SN850 still offers very good performance, but has now been overtaken by the competition.

- Competitive performance
- Large, fast-recovering dynamic SLC cache
- Attractive design
- Software package
- 5-year warranty
- Can get hot under heavy load
- Outstanding performance ...
- Heat sink
- ... which has its price
The M.2 SSD Western Digital WD_Black SN850 2TB delivers outstanding performance values in the test. In terms of both read and write transfer rates, it shows what is possible among NVMe SSDs. So much power comes at a price, but measured against the performance, that's okay.

Now we are cautious with the superlative of the fastest SSD, because this attribute is quite relative, especially since no SSD has ever been ahead in all tests. However, our practical tests confirm the speed advantage suggested by the somewhat higher data rates in the data sheet...
