Product details

The 70-300mm F/4.5-6.3 is the first model designed specifically for mirrorless system cameras with a full-frame sensor. The engineers' aim was to make telephoto photography an effortless pleasure for photographers,
regardless of their level of experience. The 70-300mm F/4.5-6.3 not only offers exceptionally high image quality, but with a length of 148mm, a diameter of 77mm and a weight of just 545g, it is also the world's most compact and lightest 70-300mm zoom lens in its class. The telephoto zoom makes it easier than ever to zoom in on distant subjects. The long focal length is not only suitable for sports, wildlife and nature photography, it also provides a flattering perspective for portrait and street photography.

Used on a mirrorless system camera with a full-frame or APS-C sensor, the 70-300mm F/4.5-6.3 forms an optimally balanced unit. An effective focal length of 450mm (KB equivalent) is achieved on the APS-C sensor. The splash-proof housing makes the 70-300mm F/4.5-6.3 the ideal companion for outdoor and travelling. Like the other models in the Tamron E series, it has a filter thread of 67 mm so that a polarising or grey filter fits on all models. The lens is also compatible with Sony's advanced camera functions, such as Fast Hybrid AF and AF with eye detection, which make photography even easier.

The very well made Tamron 4.5-6.3/70-300 mm Di III RXD should be stopped down despite the existing light weakness.

  • PositiveThe most striking features of the lens, apart from its very good imaging performance, are its compactness and light weight.
  • NegativeUnfortunately, it lacks an optical image stabiliser, which is unusual for a telephoto zoom. It is also considerably slower than its three siblings.

High telephoto performance at an affordable price was the focus of the Tamron 70-300mm, F4.5-6.3 Di III RXD. The lens delivers this and also scores with its compact size and low weight. This comes at the price of a missing image stabiliser and relatively low speed.
