With Apple AirPlay, you can stream video and audio from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac directly to your TV. Watch movies and series on the Apple TV App, your favorite apps, or Safari. Show your photos to everyone who's there.
Content can be up-converted to lifelike 4K resolution using Sony's unique features. Twice as fast as the X1 Extreme, the X1 Ultimate accurately analyses and processes data to enhance 4K images with lifelike detail and texture. Even images shot in 2K and Full HD are upscaled to nearly 4K by 4K X-Reality Pro using a unique 4K database. Object-based Super Resolution then optimizes each scene to make textures look almost lifelike.
With Chromecast you can send your favourite videos, games and apps from your mobile device to your TV without any loss of quality. Simply tap the cast button on your Android or iOS screen to display everything you like to watch in large format. Send your content via Cast and play it back on your phone or tablet.

Top picture quality: OLED TVs deliver the best results In the search for top picture quality, one still ends up with ?televisions with organic light-emitting diodes (OLED). Their advantages over LCD technology: rich blacks, strong contrasts, wide viewing angles. However, current OLED TVs are also quite expensive - but the quality is almost always right...
Overall, the Sony offers an excellent performance. However, the clearly too high purchase price runs like a red thread through the entire test. Of course, there is a reason for this. 48-inch Ultra HD OLED panels are still quite new on the market, are correspondingly expensive and are probably nowhere near the quantities of 55-inch Ultra HD OLED panels...
- Most compact OLED TV
- Acoustic Surface
- DolbyVision
- Audio calibration
- many apps through Android TV
- Double tuner
The confusing operation spoils the Sony A9's "very good" rating. It deserves this for the picture quality alone: colours, contrast, sharpness and clarity, even in motion, leave nothing to be desired, plus good anti-reflective properties. In terms of sound, the Sony is also among the best of all TVs. In the size class around 1.20 metres, it is an exception.
- excellent image quality
- Good, spatial sound
- Calman ready
Finally: First-class OLED picture quality and good sound are now also available in the living-room-friendly 48-inch format. The Sony KD-48A9 is the best TV under 50 inches that we have ever tested.
