Unter Sonys Systemkameras ist die Alpha 580 wohl die letzte mit einem Klappspiegel und einem APS-Sensor, wobei die Kamera dank ihrer überzeugenden Leistung trotzdem noch nicht auf das Abstellgleis zu schieben ist. Sie liefert eine tolle Bildqualität und arbeitet zudem mit einer sehr hohen Geschwindigkeit, sodass sie mit neueren Modellen in jedem Fall noch Schritt halten kann.
Videostar. Beste Spiegelreflexkamera für Videos in Full-HD (1920 x 1080 Pixel). Sehr schnell. Schwachpunkt: Belichtungskorrektur nur in vier Stufen. Monitor bei Sonne und Dämmerlicht mit wenig Kontrast. Besonderheit: HDR-Funktion, verrechnet drei Aufnahmen eines Motivs zu einem optimierten Bild.

Schwer wird es die Alpha 580 trotzdem haben: Die Konkurrenz kommt aus dem eigenen Hause, heißt Alpha 55, ist etwas besser ausgestattet und sogar günstiger, genauso gut und zudem noch einen Tick schneller.

Das Hauptprpblemist das überhitzende Display, das schon abschaltet, bevor der Filmer richtig warm wird. Dabei ist die Bildqualität selbst insgesamt eher besser als die von Panasonic.
