- Light and compact
- No viewfinder
- No accessory shoe
At around 380 grams, the Sony Alpha 5100 is beautifully small and light, but delivers high-quality photos - just right for a jacket pocket. However, the buyer has to make a few compromises when it comes to the features of the tiny camera and, for example, do without a viewfinder. The monitor can be too dark in bright sunlight.
- Zoom rocker
- Small and compact
- WLAN
- Edge sharpness
- Fast in daylight
- Folding monitor for selfies
The Sony Alpha 5100 does not have a viewfinder, although the built-in flash is also a minor point of criticism. However, you can still look forward to a good overall package, the image quality is high and the very good monitor must also be emphasised here.
- Motorzoom
- XAVC-S recording
- Very compact
- No viewfinder
- No microphone and headphone connections
- Unconventional operation
Even though the settings mainly have to be made via the touchscreen, the compact Sony does a good job with Full HD videos. The AF employees very quickly, so that even shots taken in automatic mode are successful. However, the model lacks a viewfinder and connections for a microphone and headphones. However, the user can intervene manually in the image settings.
- compact
- Zoom rocker
- strong battery
- Good photo quality
- Image deficiencies and delay in less than optimal light
For users who want to make do with an entry-level model, the Sony is certainly a good choice, although it falls short in low light and delivers rather mediocre images. Nevertheless, it works very well in sufficient light and is also well equipped. Zooming is easy with the rocker switch and the battery is also extremely powerful.
Good, very small system camera without viewfinder. Top marks in the eye test. Good flip-up monitor, extremely light and relatively flat for a high-quality camera.
