Die SSD 840 Evo 120GB (MZ-7TE120BW) ist eine SSD aus dem Hause Samsung, welche sich im Test durch keine Highlights, ebenso wenig jedoch durch Schwächen zeigt. Die Festplatte zeigt starke Transferraten, ordentliche Zugriffszeiten und die Praxis-Performance ist ebenso hoch. Lob gibt es zudem für die überdurchschnittliche Energie-Effizienz.

Insgesamt macht die SSD von Samsung einen guten Job mit hoher Datenrate sowie kurzer Zugriffszeit. Allerdings ist der Einbau des Gerätes in ein Notebook oder gar PC sehr umständlich, sodass hier das Modell wertvolle Punkte verliert. An der Performance sowie dem Stromverbrauch gibt es keinerlei Beanstandungen.

Die sehr günstige Samsung 840 EVO 120GB ist zwar das kleinste Modell aus der neuen 840-EVO-Serie und das langsamste, aber im Test verweist sie trotzdem alle anderen getesteten SSDs unter 100 Euro auf die hinteren Plätze. Durch sehr hohe Leseraten von bis zu 523 MByte/s eignet sie sich besonders zum Aufrüsten eines PCs mit einem extrem schnellen Startmedium.
