Great product. Fast network for my iMac with my QNAP NAS

Given the size of the device, I would have expected it to be suitable for use in a home lab ... but if you don't have a cellar or a server cabinet and the thing stands open in the same room, then the otherwise great device is unfortunately too loud.

In itself it would be a great switch - RJ45 with 1/2.5/5/10 gbit and SFP+ for uplinks. I've had one of these for about 10 months and have been very happy with it. However, it has crashed several times and two of the RJ45 ports have been completely dead for two days now. Rebooting no longer helps. I've read in various forums that these things have unusually poor build quality and often overheat thermally with visible traces on the PCB. I am now switching to a Mikrotik CRS312-4C+8XG-RM, which has even more ports. Even though I really like the Unifi universe and currently operate 5 Unifi switches and 4 APs in my home network, network stability and reliability are ultimately more important to me.

Nice bit of kit by Ubiquiti the 1Gb specialists branching out into 1Gb+ territory. Even though this switch is from 2019 or thereabouts, it's still hugely relevant today.

The manufacturer's explanations are not very clear. To fully manage this switch, you need to either install a server or buy a dedicated server (if the installation is large).
