Basically, even for the less computer-savvy home user a reasonably easy to set up NAS. However, certain functions are more demanding in use and require more in-depth discussion.

Already had the predecessor and am absolutely satisfied. If NAS then only Synology!
I am very happy with the DS220+, this replaces my DS210j, which is getting on in years. Space is plenty for my private needs. Who already has a Synology, gets along with it. Only the migration of the data took quite a long time, but that was a one-time process.

this changed the way I watch movie and listen to music. DSM OS is super easy to use. Plenty of all.
Disk management is simple to use. Very happy with the product.
Just missing a WIFI . you can either buy a dongle, or you have to connect wired to your router.

It took me a week to set everything up the way I wanted, but it was worth it. The new NAS is a lot more powerful than the previous one (215j), which I now use as a backup server.

Would recommend Synology NAS. Have already set up div(4) such devices. I do not use the full feature set. After a few weeks in operation, the fan makes noise.

The NAS was shipped by Digitec in the original box, with no additional box. The unit did not survive unscathed, three parts broke off. Then contacted customer service, shipped a new one, broken one went back, but instead of posting it as a replacement, a new order was triggered and the warranty department then sent another one. Then contacted customer service again, refused to accept package from postman, package was delivered again by post office, again refused. Then after a week it arrived at Digitec. Contacted customer service again, that they then booked out the outstanding amount.
NAS is running, so far all good

I am very enthusiastic about this product. Has been running very reliably for some time now. Good integration, easy handling of shared folders either at group or user level. Easy integration with CalDav.

Easy to install and to manage but the tricky things arise when you want to use the apps from different devices. It's a try and fail process which can be improved a lot if a wizard was available both on the online versions as well as on the apps side.
Still discovering the full potentials but the system is up and running in few minutes.
This latest version of the 220+ lacks a 2nd USB port on the back which I think it is not nice (comparison to the old version) for me: as I wanted to attach the 2 old external HDs I have to the NAS for controlled data transfer (so one unit has to use the front USB port: which is not nice to see).
Something to mention on the digitec side: I ordered the 6TB version thinking I was going to have 2x6TBs disks. BUT actually I got 2x3TBs disks. As the system runs on RAID mode you can only count on those 3 TBs in total as disk space...

For the last 8-9 years I had a Zyxel NSA 325. Since Windows 10 increasingly problems with access via network drive have occurred, I have replaced the NAS by a modern device.
The commissioning was quick and easy to do. Plug it in, turn it on and browse the network. Set up profiles, set up volume, done.
After copying data and installing an app on the smartphone, I now have my entire music collection available on the smartphone ... which is really great.

To secure my shots I acquired this hard drive which I configured as raid 1, redundancy of both drives, if one drops the other has all the data, this limits the capacity to half. The installation on the network is simple, which makes it accessible from all the devices in the house. It's the back-up part that I have a problem with. I haven't yet decided which application I need.
