The design is robust and would actually look good.
Performance is also good for a mid-range device.
Unfortunately, the 4GB internal memory is absolutely insufficient.
Android and preinstalled apps from Google and Samsung already occupy 80% (of 1GB) of the memory ex works. After a few months (9), more and more accumulates due to updates.
Despite storing all possible data on the SD card (unfortunately no App2SD possible), you are always scraping the memory limit. (Installed apps approx. 200MB: Facebook, Skype, WhatsApp, Twitter, weather alarm, email).
Fortunately, the battery can be removed. This means that it can be recharged externally if, for some unknown reason, the device discharges itself so deeply overnight that it can no longer be charged or booted on its own!
This means that the phone can no longer be used properly. It's a shame, because it's actually very suitable for outdoor use. I'll have to buy another device for better or worse.
Pro
Contra
I've had the Xcover for about 10 months now. I think it's a decent phone for 255 francs.
However, the cover of the USB port is very unsatisfactory. It has now fallen off and the phone is no longer waterproof. Also, the phone only has 1GB of memory available for apps which is just not enough!
All in all, I would not buy the phone again.
I switched from the SII, admittedly it is slightly slower because of the somewhat weaker processor but still sufficiently fast.
It was clear to me that only about 1GB of the 4GB memory is available, but after rooting and moving apps to the SD card, this problem is solved.
I deduct 1 point for the lack of automatic display brightness control.
Otherwise, the device does exactly what I want, works great, is stable and a good companion on the mountain where you do not have to worry that it is broken after the first tour. Price performance is really good in my opinion!
The additional camera release button is great!
Slow.
Little memory, barely enough for the Android apps that install themselves.
USB cover falls off after a few months, so the device is no longer waterproof.
Unusable when apps are to be installed. Of the 4GB of memory, 3GB are occupied. The apps can only be stored on the internal memory and would have to be moved to the external memory afterwards. You don't want to have something like that.
All in all, a good mobile phone. It is also waterproof and dustproof as desired.
However, after one month, the bottom cover came off. That's why it's no longer waterproof and it's not covered by the warranty to repair it.
I wouldn't buy it again, because you can buy one directly that is not waterproof.
