Panasonic Dmp-Ub704
1 GB, Bluray Player
I am very satisfied with the start-up and one week of use.
=> At the moment I am still using the 704 with a Full HD TV (Sony W905). The picture is perfect here and meets my personal picture requirements (previously DMP-BDT500).
- Plays my tested 3D as well as 2D Blu-Rays flawlessly (tried 5 each).
- The same applies to the UHD disc Independence Day I.
- Mkv files from the NAS also run (15 different ones tried).
- I was also able to play my own 4K pictures and 4K films (camera) without any problems.
- The operating noise is not perceptible to me even during quiet film passages (drive like fan).
- GUI responds very well.
- The player has a high-quality feel to it.
Pro
Does what it has to do. Picture is top (4K 60 4:4:4). I can say the same about the sound. The player is connected via separate HMDI to a Denon amplifier with Dolby Atmos. I have nothing to rule out about the software either. If someone has problems, they should first check the HDMI cable. Many cables don't live up to the specifications they promise. Only the remote control doesn't look as high quality as the player. But that's a minor matter. At the moment, there is no better player to buy in terms of picture quality. (Quality is the same as the more expensive brother, see tests).

Everything is working fine for me so far. No jerking or stuttering. I have a Yamaha receiver (RX-V481) that can do 4K and HDCP 2.2 and a 4K (and HDCP 2.2) Sony TV (KD55X85 with Android TV).
HDMI cables are normal ones from Amazon Basic.
Player setup is simple and very short.
If mine would start to jerk - then it goes back as a warranty case. So far nothing.
I will also try 3D BluRay soon.
Oh yes: I am also very satisfied with the picture and sound!
Addendum:
3D BluRay works perfectly. The signal changes from 4K to FullHD (=native bluRay).
Firmware update for the first time. Everything ran like clockwork. The whole menu and the display design on the TV is a real boon compared to others.
Special features: The disc tray also extends in standby (no annoying waiting until the player has booted up). The remote control can also be used to switch on the Panasonic TV, if you have one.
Pro
Very good, powerful and versatile unit.

I'm new to the 4k circus, but this part seems to be able to do everything you need. Beautiful workmanship, looks high-quality. Upscaling of "normal" Blu-Rays works perfectly, depending on the film I can only recognise certain differences to native 4k material. The player is very quiet and therefore does not disturb at all when watching a film. However, there are certain drawbacks compared to the bigger brother (see Contra below). You have to decide for yourself whether you want to pay the extra price, but I don't think it's worth it in terms of picture quality. Another thing to mention (at least for me) is that the player came with the 4k Blu-Ray double feautre with Passengers and Life. If I subtract the Swiss prices for these films from the VP, the player becomes even more interesting.

High quality player, smooth playback. Panasonic's usual premium functions are included (e.g. High Clarity Sound).
Despite the fan, it is a very quiet player (you only hear the fan when the system starts up).
In my opinion, the extra cost compared to the DMP-UB900 is not worth it, as this player has exactly the same hardware. The only difference: the analogue outputs. But you don't need them in a home cinema system anyway, because everything runs via the HDMI connections.

I am completely satisfied with the device

Wait...wait
Player has serious errors in the HDMI implementation. Wait for firmware updates. Stalling playback/interruption of 4K discs. Handshake problems. Audio bitstreaming does not work. Can't do anything with amplifiers like the Marantz 7703. (sees the receiver as not 4K capable, not HDR capable). Also works incorrectly when directly connected to an OLED LG65G6.
Still too many teething problems for the moment.
For hardcore early adopters a study object
