So far the best VR headset on the market

¹ I use the app "Virtual Desktop" which can be purchased for 20.- in the Oculus Store. This allows me to connect to my PC and play SteamVR games wirelessly. However, this only works if the VR headset is connected to a 5GHz WLAN. It is quite possible that the game stutters or stops briefly in between. This method is a very good alternative to the original 80.- Oculus Link cable.

² - The Guardian is the boundary you set in the room to avoid running into a wall or falling down the stairs. This area is only displayed when you get too close with the headset or controllers. If you stick your head out of the area, you can see the view of the cameras to orientate yourself.

³ - If you order the "Elite Strap", a carrying box is included.

⁴ - According to our own estimates, the batteries last approx. 22 days with a daily use of 2 hours.

⁵ - There is a poorly visible sign on the side of the controller that shows how to open the cover.

    Conclusion:
In my opinion the best VR headset you can buy for this price.
It is very comfortable to wear, it is wireless and you can also play SteamVR games with it.

    Pro

    • Completely wireless usable
    • Super resolution
    • Battery lasts long enough
    • Guarantees a safety from tripping over objects
    • Can be connected to the PC via cable or via "Virtual Desktop"¹ to play SteamVR games
    • The hands can be used as controllers in the menu or for certain games
    • Automatically detects Guardians² created in rooms
    • When walking out of a Guardian area, the camera image fades in
    • Super good tracking speed and large tracking range
    • Sits comfortably and does not press on the face
    • Certain games that are not available in the Oculus Store can be installed via "Side Quest".
    • Has very good 360° speakers built in
    • Has 2 microphones built in with very good quality
    • Volume can be adjusted on the headset
    • The supplied batteries (2 x AA) for the controllers last a very long time⁴.
    • Recharges relatively quickly. From 0% to 100% about one hour
    • The arm straps can be easily changed in the battery compartment without fumbling.

    Contra

    • The supplied headband becomes uncomfortable to wear after about one hour
    • Inconvenient to play with cable
    • Oculus cable, carrying box³, or more comfortable strap cost a lot of money
    • Requires min. 5GHz WLAN to play via Virtual Desktop (or hotspot of mobile phones with 5G)
    • The interpupillary distance can only be adjusted to 3 different levels
    • From 2023 you can only use an Oculus Quest 2 without limits with a Facebook account
    • The image transfer to a mobile phone has very poor quality
    • It is not written in the product description how to change the controller batteries⁵.
    • Wearing over-ear headphones over the headset is not comfortable. (Tested with Razer Nari Ultimate)

    Super! Except for...

The glasses are great and work great, but they are not very comfortable. The glasses are very front heavy (although lighter than the original) and the supplied strap is very flimsy. I would recommend an elite strap, but everything else is great.

As a VR developer and owner of several VR headsets: I am really impressed.

I develop VR applications and have several VR headsets. The Quest 2 impressed me a lot - especially in terms of tracking quality.
I haven't tested Oculus Link yet, so I can't say anything about it - but the stand-alone performance
    is really great!
You need a facebook account and you can think what you want about that - but it's not that different from what Sony, Apple & Microsoft do with their devices.

The controllers are not great, but ok (better than the Vive Cosmos controllers, worse than the regular Vive controllers).

    Price-performance is a no-brainer in any case.

    Great

Seriously impressed by this headset, hard to find any complaints about the headset itself which can’t be solved by the official accessories.

Only complaint is the difference in official US/Swiss pricing. European, Australian
even UK prices are comparable with the 299 usd price tag when taking into account exchange rates and taxes but for some reason the Swiss are expected to pay 370 Swiss francs before taxes or 408 usd!

If Sony and Microsoft can sell their consoles in Switzerland at the same price as elsewhere why won’t Facebook?

    Pro

    • Screen quality
    • Lightweight
    • Standalone or oculus link/virtual desktop
    • Hand or controller tracking

    Contra

    • Facebook thinks the Swiss are cash cows

    Massively underrated game console

I've had many game consoles, but none have I used as much as the Quest 2. I play daily and always look forward to when I can dive back in. There are so many titles, there is something for everyone. And the best thing is, you usually play standing up and moving around. This is in contrast to sitting rigidly in front of a flat screen like the TV. Personally, I like Population: ONE, a battle royal game in the style of Fortnite. I wouldn't give up the console for anything and recommend that anyone who likes to play games should give it a try.

As written, the downside is that you need a Facebook/Meta account. I don't use any other products from Facebook and only have an account because of that. Therefore Meta doesn't get much info from me.

Another problem is that many people get sick very quickly in VR (similar to seasickness). But if you take your time, you can train VR legs and get rid of VR nausea completely. I now often play for many hours and I never get sick anymore. Of course, the console can't do anything about this problem, but I still think it should be mentioned here.

    Pro

    • Wireless
    • Playable without a gaming PC
    • Super resolution
    • Perfect tracking
    • Many motion/sports games
    • Games cheap
    • Glasses are light
    • Battery lasts long

    Contra

    • Facebook / Meta account required
    • Motion sickness (depending on disposition)
