    Perfect replacement for Huawei fans

The Honor Magic 6 pro is very successful. The 120hz display is excellent and the high PWM dimming rate is great, especially for sensitive people. The 3D face recognition works perfectly even in low light. The fingerprint sensor is unfortunately not ultrasonic but it is good. The battery is very large and lasts a very long time. It is also fully charged in around 30 minutes by cable and 1 hour wirelessly.

The camera is very good and, for me, takes the best pictures on the market. Only the videos are not quite at the level of Apple and Samsung.

Finally, finally! Volte works out of the box (Sunrise) this was always a problem with the predecessors. Simply activate it in the settings.

Unfortunately, Vowifi only works with a simple workaround. Once done, however, the option is visible in the settings. I am happy to link the instructions in the review comments.

It's a shame that the Honor Magic 6 pro no longer comes with a case or charger. In my case, however, the 88w Huawei charger charges the 6 Pro with a full 80w.

One thing to note is that Honor is very slow with updates. Security patches often come months late and Android updates only in April / May of the following year.

All in all, the perfect smartphone for Huawei fans and many others, even if the price is of course not very low.

    Slight design changes

Had hoped for more, display too dark in sunlight and too bright indoors.
Software still too buggy and limited.

    Flicker Free

My purchase was based on the sensitivity of Flicker-Free screens to flicker. I'm part of a small portion of the population that is sensitive to this phenomenon. I had a Pixel 8 Pro and was very happy with it until I discovered that it was making me sick. I even changed all the light bulbs in my house. Anyway, I'll stop telling my life story. 🫣

    Pro

    • Very low Flicker Free, very important for people who are sensitive to screen flicker.

    Contra

    • I hate curved screens on the sides.
    • I'm not a fan of the Honor overlay.

    Video calls with horrible quality

    - Camera is very builky.
    - 100x zoom is (of course) a joke. Still they have the nerve to scandalously advertise like it's NASA quality.
    - Camera quality is good but software processing is bad. Aggressive hdr and color saturation,
sometimes is over blurred and over sharpened on top of it.
    - Can't choose resolution. On a camara with 50-180mp this is a big mistake. I want to avoid fill my cloud and I want speed downloading, uploading and sharing files. Having only 50mp files it's a no-no. Resolution it's not image quality.
    - Doesn't come with charger.

But what really triggers me is:
    - Video calls have notorious bad quality in any app I tried. Tried with full network speed and got better but not perfect results. My theory is the cameras sensors have way too uch resolution resulting in too much data to downscale for a smooth call. Updates are in need.

    The positive points:
+ Sound is amazing. The best I've listen on a phone.
+ 120hz makes interface really smooth
+ Zoom only untill 5x is awesome after that just forget it.

If I could, I would buy another mobile

Unfortunately extremely disappointed. I've had it for less than 3 months and the software is more buggy than my 3-4 year old mobile phones or lags. Is this possibly because it's a Chinese mobile phone and I'm not particularly China-friendly online?

In any case, I've never had to regularly restart a mobile phone after such a short time to fix software bugs.

Switching the camera between a normal lens and a macro lens doesn't really work. All you get are blurred pictures. My Samsung s21 Ultra had much better cameras and it only cost CHF 200 more.

The fingerprint sensor is very stupidly placed and so I don't use it as the PIN entry works better.

Battery is good but not particularly better than my previous devices.

No idea but for 1000 CHF I expect something completely different....
