After everything went smoothly with the Negi and slide scanning, a horrendous debacle was discovered with the oversight scan: The highly advertised and loudly proclaimed oversight scan resolution of 4800 to even 9600pi (with Epsonscan software V2, and Silverfast) are faked numbers! All tests with all Scan Softwares, like Epson Scan V2, Silverfast, Vuescan and even MAC own Scanmodule, resulted in co-operation with EPSON USA, and with the SIlverfast internal Tech support, and a Lithoanstalt, which all also the v850 pro possess, that only a 1200ppi Aufsichtsscan still acceptable Aufsichtsscan supplies. And that everything above that : 2400ppi/3400ppi/6800ppi/9600 ppi, so between 1200ppi to 9600ppi options, become so blurry that they are completely unusable. Even with sharpening there is nothing more to do. When the question was first raised whether my v850 Pro bought at Digitec was defective, the ESAG (official Epson Switzerland office, a 3rd company service office that also represents other brands) only suggested an exchange of the internal scanner part as a solution, for 550 Euros. When escalating this matter with Digitec's GL, I was sent back a nasty verbal slap in the face by the DIGITEC Public Relations office: That there were no other EPSON repair places, and that a sending in to EPSON Europe, (which I even had to suggest here myself!) would be a good idea. Something that is absolutely common), would not be "worthwhile" for Digitec. My ADVICE to anyone who wants to buy this v850 Pro for almost 1000 FR. at auction: Be aware that the oversight scans are still sharp at a maximum of only 1200ppi. And that here at Digitec, with such extremely expensive professional high-end equipment, is NOT behind the products they sell. And it crystal clear prefers to leave the consumer the repair options. And will simply turn their backs on consumers with their defective "expensive" product.

The Epson Perfection V850 Pro delivers excellent results. One star deduction for the included, extensive negative holders, which are completely useless. The separately available Fluid Mount System, on the other hand, is top-notch and delivers excellent images even without fluid - and, above all, 100x better scans than the included holders. The only thing to note for fast scans with the Fluid Mount and without liquid is that the negative lies flat. The included software is about the same functionality as scanner software had twenty years ago, but for capturing images and subsequent processing in separate image processing software, this is more than enough. Tip: For the Fluid Mount from Epson, also order the Scan Starter Kit from kami-produkte.de and/or their Swiss representation.

The scans, using SilverFast 8 Ai Studio, leave nothing to be desired.
Very satisfied with quality of negative scans. Still, it takes about 2 1/2 minutes for each photo when using digital ICE to remove dust and scratches. Two sets of film holders is very useful.

The Epson V850 TOP is the scanner. Epson Scan Software and SilverFast SE Plus version 8.8 are supplied with the scanner.
Epson program is very easy to use and also the results can be seen. Automatic detection individual slides or negatives automatic exposure, gradation, sharpness, etc. can also be set Manuel per image. Scan runs automatically for all images.
SilverFast SE Plus 8.8 is pure opposite. Even the single line image recognition works very poorly. Almost every image must be readjusted with the image frame. Otherwise, all functions can be set individually for each picture. But the big surprise was that the SilverFast SE version that comes with it is not able to scan and store all the pictures one after the other. I had to pay another 80 CHF to upgrade to the SilverFast AI version, which includes this function.
In contrast to V600 Photo, which had an unstable USB connection on a 64-bit Win10 22H2 NB (I've had two returns), the SW runs perfectly, never "loses" the scanner or the connection to Win10.
This could also have been the case with the Espon V600 Photo, but it was not = the upgrade to a quality product is self-evidently recommended here.
