Runs perfectly in my HP Probook 6560b. Absolutely no problems. My laptop is now smoother than ever before and I notice a clear difference to the hard disk installed by HP.
Today, 11.11.11 installed in my MBP mid 2009 (2.53Ghz) (firmware 9), restored via Timemachine backup, run Trimenabler:
goes like Schmidt's cat.
Was a good SSD. With 6300 operating hours, it blew up my good piece :)
Irreparable.

RedBull for the old MacBook Pro. Gives the old 3.1 MBP (2.2 GHz, mid-2007) incredible wings again. Installation within 30 minutes, enough instructions on the web. Great!!!
I have owned this SSD for more than 4 years and it has never let me down. Crucial is, or at least was, one of the better SSD manufacturers and with good reason!

I got 2 pieces at Digitec for 179.-. Put them into operation without any problems. Good performance even with the old firmware. After the update I realised a 0 array in my m17x. Read 998, write 420. Boot time approx. 18-20 sec. I personally don't need it any faster. Best P/L. 3-year warranty, what more could you want.
I installed the SSD in my Asus N56VZ. After initial problems with the Windows installation (had to change various settings in the Bios...) it now runs perfectly. The performance index of Win7 is 7.9. I have also just installed the new 070H firmware.
Can recommend the SSD without hesitation!!!!
running !
if she craps out, there's still a 1-star rating....
I've had an Alienware M17xR4 since yesterday. I ordered it with a 5000GB 7200rpm hard drive and ordered a Crucial m4 SSD 256GB, 2.5 inch, SATA-3 from digitec and installed it.
With the old hard drive, my computer needed about 75 seconds to start up, now only 24 seconds. I am absolutely satisfied.
Installed in my MacBook Pro Mid 2009, since then I feel like I have a new MacBook Pro of the current generation. Everything runs as fast as lightning and the OS is ready to boot in 15 seconds after a complete restart....
Conclusion: Recommended purchase!
I bought this model long ago and want to report that I had never had any issue with it. I bought it for the reliability and I'm not disappointed!
When the guarantee is over, it's useful to know that it can be transformed into a 7[mm] SDD (or earlier, but it's voiding the guarantee). It was very useful for me, as I could insert it in a new mini laptop.
Dear friends
The SSD drives from Crucial are simply very good!
I have now installed several Crucial SSDs for my customers and they are now really in continuous use.
Not a single drive has failed so far and the performance is absolutely top!
I would only recommend and buy Crucial!
I installed the 256GB version on a Sata-II port at a friend's house. Even on an old 775 mainboard, the computer booted up in about 20-22 seconds (in IDE mode!, because it was cloned and not rebooted). I have already installed several Crucial for different people (2x 64GB, 1x 256GB and 1x 512GB). I also recommend the Crucial only from the best experience.
I recommend everyone to switch off the following things when using an SSD to increase the lifetime:
- Turn off defragmentation
- Switch off system recovery
I installed this Crucial M4 (256 GB) in my three-year-old MacBook Pro (15", Mid 2009, 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) about a week ago and installed Lion.
An SSD works wonders in terms of performance. The MacBook Pro now boots in 14 seconds.
I bought the Crucial m4 a month ago and installed it in a MacBook Pro. At first I wanted to install MacOSX 10.6, but it didn't recognise the disk (I think there is no TRIM support under this version). So I booted MacOSX 10.7 and everything worked fine. Runs super fast (Photoshop opens in 3 sec) and very stable. I can therefore recommend the disk to others.
My Crucial M4 - 256 GB has been running since the beginning of September 2011. It is used in a Windows PC with SandyBridge CPU (i7 2600K @ 4.7GHz).
The performance is very good, even though there are apparently faster SSDs available. However, differences between new and this SSD are almost imperceptible and are in the millisecond range. Only when booting can they gain a few seconds, which can be noticeable. But I find this rather marginal...
To Crucial's credit, they regularly release firmware updates. It is not yet possible to say what the situation is like with younger SSD manufacturers (e.g. Samsung). I can also emphasise the last paragraph by "christianv9" once again. It's really great that Crucial also provides SSDs for other operating systems. Because not everyone works with Windows :-)
Since September 2011, I have been through every firmware update and have not yet had any problems with reliability. (No bluescreen/freeze due to the SSD yet.) After this time, the SSD is still in very good condition and is currently about 50% filled with data (OS, Office, PS, ID, Eclipse, Visual Studio, FussballManager 11, etc.). I am more than thrilled with the Marvell controller. In our shop we use OCZ (SandForce) controllers and 3 of them broke in about the same period of time. The data from the laptops that were not synchronised were of course all gone.... so there were a few tears :)
The price was much higher when I bought it (around 350 Fr.). Now it's a real bargain, 1 GB costs less than 1 franc.
So if you want an extremely reliable, high-performance and inexpensive SSD, you should get this one.
Therefore: ***** 5 stars ***** !
I use the m4 256GB under Xubuntu 12.04 Linux (64-bit) and am very satisfied so far. Absolutely no problems, even with the latest firmware 000F. The speed is very good (especially access time).
The Marvell controller used has quite a good reputation. It seems to be more reliable and trouble-free than its SandForce colleagues.
Of course, I don't have any long-term experience yet. But at the moment it looks like my next SSD will be from Crucial again. Not only because of the favourable price!
A big plus: Crucial has a heart for users who do not use Windows. Firmware can be updated without problems on a box without Windows, even on Macs. As a comparison: other SSDs, e.g. from OCZ, can only be updated under Windows. I think this is no longer up to date. Crucial shows that it can be done differently...
Works fine in MacBook Pro 13" Late 2011, but firmware 000F should be replaced with 0309:

I have been using this SSD for about 2 - 3 weeks.
Runs great in my MacBook Pro Late 2011, 15" display, 8GB RAM and 2.5GHz Intel i7. I am completely satisfied so far.
I also had FirmWare 9 preinstalled.
Installed them in my new MacBook Pro 13". Simple installation. Has been stable for 2 weeks.
Had also already installed FW9.
Runs on Macbook Pro (Early 11) 15 inch 2.3 Ghz with SnowLeopard. No problem at all. SSD is fast, very fast. 14 seconds after startup, the screen table is there! photoshop/illu/indesign work quite quickly. Mail takes a fraction of a second. just great.
Hammer, that thing.
And I even got it with FW 9 :)
Disk cloning. Swap and run.
Runs fast. No comparison to the HD.
Wow - really the hammer! I hardly recognise my iMac (early 2008, 3.06MHz DualCore) under Lion, boots up super fast and every app performs much better. Absolute recommendation!
Got OS and Games running on it and with FW 0009 the thing goes really great off! 1A purchase recommendation!
If you only believe the technical values, it's your own fault. The disc is almost as fast as a vertex 3 - just take a look at the benchmarks. In addition, no SandForce is used here - so no freezes and blue screens.
The disc runs great, with 500MB read and 265 write - what more could you want?
