On top for consumer routers
I have been using previously AX88U and was amazed by the performance. Had to move to a new place and got an Ubiquiti UDR which was a real disappointment and decided to go again with Asus. Kind of regret giving a chance to Ubiquiti but now I am happy.
This router has all you need for daily usage and even more when they have now finally added VLAN management to it - something which even their high end routers lack. You might not need it at first - but if you need it some day - no need to get managed switches - you have it already (currently only in beta firmware, waiting for final release). If WiFi6E is not something you aim at - this router has more power compared to AXE7800 - more memory which you can utilise for VPN, traffic inspection, etc.
What that router shines at is transmit power - I get excellent coverage at a 3.5 room apartment everywhere.
One side note which you should be careful with is when enabling WIFi6 and 160MHz spectrum by default there is a tickbox for using DFS channels as well - which can lead to many issues and not seeing the 5GHz network (if SmartConnect is not enabled) so just stick to non-DFS channels with 160MHz spectrum enabled and you're good to go and enjoy internet connectivity!Pro

Install Merlin firmware on it, it's based on the base firmware code, not fully rewrite nor service emulation like WRTs..

Top performance - I am finally where I wanted to be.
I have tried a lot of Aimesh Asus accounts. They were all good, but the connections were only okay.
