The interior of the WG-20 shines with state-of-the-art technology: The fine resolution of 14 megapixels ensures detailed and low-noise images, while it records videos in HD resolution. The practically designed 5x zoom (28 – 140 mm, converted to 35 mm film format) allows for the perfect framing for virtually any everyday, family, leisure, or vacation situation.
Its macro mode enables highly magnified close-ups from just 1 cm away. The appropriate subject lighting is provided by bright LEDs arranged around the lens, which the WG-20 includes.
In Auto Picture Mode, the WG-20 selects the optimal setting from 16 available scene programs. You choose the subject, and the WG-20 takes care of the rest.
The self-portrait assistant uses LEDs to show you how to position the camera so that you can be included in the picture as well.

Die Ricoh WG-20 zeigt sich als eine robuste Kompaktkamera, vor allem im Outdoor-Einsatz kann dies ein Vorteil sein. Leider kann sich jedoch hinsichtlich der Qualität bei der Foto- und Videoaufnahme nicht überzeugen. Auch die Bedienung und die Ausstattung sind nur durchschnittlich.
Die WG-20 kann bis zu einer Tiefe von 10 Metern auch unter Wasser genutzt werden. Auch die robuste Bauweise gefällt, den Härtetest hat die Kamera ohne Probleme überstanden. Die Bildqualität geht durchaus in Ordnung, allzu viel darf man von einer solchen Kamera in Sachen Qualität jedoch nicht erwarten.

Insgesamt ist die Kamera eher mäßig ausgestattet denn auch wenn LEDs zur besseren Ausleuchtung vorhanden sind, sind die Aufnahmen nicht optimal. Zudem fehlt ein Sucher, der bei Sonnenlicht das Display zur Bildkontrolle ersetzen könnte. Die Bedienung ist allerdings sehr einfach, wobei zahlreiche Motivprogramme gewählt werden können.
