Product details
With the LUMIX GH5 II, Panasonic announces an advancement of its mirrorless photo/video hybrid system camera. Thanks to targeted model enhancements, the GH5 II now allows unlimited 4K60p video recording with 4:2:0 10-bit, 4:2:2 10-bit video output via HDMI, as well as wireless live streaming. The latest deep learning technology ensures even more reliable and precise autofocus through improved subject recognition in real-time. An anti-reflective coated 20-megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor, in conjunction with the enhanced Venus Engine image processing, reduces light reflections and increases dynamic range. The improved touchscreen LCD monitor features higher brightness and more vibrant color reproduction.

Overall ratingVery good91/100
Recently, camera manufacturers have criminally neglected entry-level cameras. As a result, hardly any new models have come onto the market that are available from specialist retailers for less than 1000 euros - let alone for less than 500 euros. In the days of DSLRs, the choice in this price range was much greater...
The Lumix GH5 Il is a hybrid camera with powerful photo and video functions. When it was launched in 2021, it was particularly outstanding in the video sector. In the meantime, the successor models Lumix GH6 (higher sensor resolution of 25 megapixels, 5.7K with Apple ProRes HQ 4:2:2) and GH7 (hybrid AF with phase detection, 32-bit floating audio) have raised the bar...
Very good90/100

The Lumix GH5 Il is ideal for all photographers who need an all-rounder with an MFT sensor for a moderate price that is suitable for both demanding photography and high-quality video production. Its even more comprehensively equipped successor, the GH6, is a more expensive alternative, especially as the street price of the GH5 Il has fallen sharply...
Very good92/100

On the following double page, we present the twelve best system cameras with a price of less than 1,500 euros. They are sorted according to their partial score in the "Video" category. However, so that you also know what the cameras have to offer photographically, you will also find all other relevant test results and information about the cameras in the corresponding test boxes...
Good weatherproof system camera (protected against dust, splash water) with very good electronic viewfinder and network function. All-round good, very good monitor to fold (by 230 degrees) and swivel (by 180 degrees), fast camera, basic handles work very easily, many extras and functions. Disadvantage: relatively expensive.
Very good83/100
The Panasonic Lumix GH5 II is an all-round talent with particular strengths in the video sector. Here it scores with high image and sound quality, long recording times and many additional functions. The only notable weakness is only significant for photographers: the autofocus does not always manage to perfectly track the focus on fast-moving subjects.
