Das größte Manko der abgespeckten Version ist die rudimentäre Steuerung. Es fehlt das Positional Tracking, welches die Brille im Raum erkennt. Dadurch ist das Spielen an sich stark eingeschränkt. Der Controller selbst ist ebenfalls mehr eine Fernbedienung. Als Einsteiger-Gerät für Menschen, die schon immer mal in die VR-Welten abtauchen wollten, ist die Oculus Go genau richtig...
Auf den ersten Blick bietet die Oculus Go nichts, was die zweieinhalb Jahre alte Gear-VR-Plattform nicht auch könnte. Auf den zweiten Blick ist die Go aber eine kleine Sensation: Statt 800 Euro für ein High-End-Smartphone und 100 Euro für eine VR-Halterung muss man für das autarke Headset lediglich 220 Euro ausgeben. Obendrein spart man sich das Handy-Gefrickel – so einfach war VR noch nie.
Facebook erfindet mit der Oculus Go die virtuelle Realität nicht neu. Sie ist aber eine gute Wahl für Einsteiger, da sie auch ohne Extra-Hardware läuft, viele VR-Apps bietet und zu einem fairen Preis kommt. Nur Farbverfälschungen am Bildschirmrand und der schwache Akku bremsen den VR-Spaß.
