The write protection switch on the back of the case is a new feature and protects against accidental deletion of data. It works similar to the write-protect switch of an SD card.
Another major advantage of such write protection is that the content on the drives secured in this way can no longer be manipulated by software security holes. The user has complete control over when certain data can be changed by the host computer. With the IB-241WP, you no longer need to worry about the security of your protected data.
