So hoch wie bei keinem anderen Multifunktionsgerät in diesem Test waren die Druckkosten des HP 5230. Und auch die Druckqualität war die schlechteste im Vergleich, beim Tempo war er ebenfalls Schlusslicht. Besonders bei der Verarbeitung von farbigen Grafiken tat er sich schwer: Über 14 Minuten dauerte es, bis eine DIN-A4-Seite im Auswurf lag.
