- High quality printing and scanning
- fast text printing
- Document feeder
- Very slow colour printing
- small paper tray
- somewhat high printing costs
An automatic document feeder is standard on the HP 4220e - which is rare in this price range. And the print and scan quality is also impressive. But if you often print in colour, you'll have to be patient. The HP is only fast when printing text in black and white. The printing costs in colour are quite high, but can be reduced with an ink subscription.
Anyone looking for a printer for the home quickly realises that the price range is huge. The printers tested by Stiftung Warentest range from under 100 to over 1,000 euros. The differences in quality are just as great: while many good printers tested impress with razor-sharp text or brilliant photo prints, others disappoint with blurred, streaky print images, poor contrast or colour errors...
- Relatively compact
- High printing costs
- Photo printing very slow
- No LAN connection
- No automatic switch-off
The HP DeskJet 4220e multifunction printer leaves an ambivalent impression when tested. The printing costs are relatively high at 10.8 cents for a text page and 13.5 cents for a colour page, which can result in considerable expenditure if used frequently. The print quality proves to be just sufficient for text and insufficient for graphics...
- High print quality, very fast text printing, automatic document feeder
- Very slow colour printing, somewhat high costs, small paper tray
An automatic document feeder for the scanner is rare in the price range of the HPDeskJet 4220e. The print and scan quality is also impressive. However, those who print a lot in colour will have to plan for long waiting times. The DeskJet is only really fast when printing text in black and white...
- Simple, minimalist operation
- Print quality
- No duplex functions
- No port for USB stick
- Narrow, open paper feed (60 sheets)
- Slow printing for the highest quality
Even for a home office, the HP DeskJet 4220e is only adequately equipped. Without borderless printing, the model is more suitable for office documents than photos.
