Garmin Running Dynamics Pod
Product details
With the Running Dynamics Pod, you have the option to train without a heart rate chest strap. Pair the device with a compatible smartwatch, attach it to the center of the waistband of your running shorts, and start your training.
Monitor important running efficiency metrics such as cadence, stride length, ground contact time, balance of ground contact time, vertical movement, and vertical ratio, and analyze them afterward. By interpreting these biomechanical measurements, you can improve your running form to be in top shape on race day.
The Running Dynamics Pod features an integrated accelerometer that measures body movements to calculate six parameters for running efficiency.
Cadence is the number of steps per minute. It indicates the total number of steps taken (combined for both right and left).
The balance of ground contact time shows the ratio (left/right) of your ground contact time while running. It is expressed as a percentage. For example, it may display as 53.2, along with an arrow pointing left or right.
Stride length is the distance of your stride from one footfall to the next. It is measured in meters.
Vertical movement refers to the up-and-down motion while running. It indicates the vertical movement of the upper body in centimeters for each step.
The vertical ratio describes the relationship of vertical movement to stride length. It is expressed as a percentage. A lower value typically indicates better running form or technique.
Ground contact time is the time per step that you spend on the ground while running. It is measured in milliseconds.
