Die Canon EOS 500D ist nicht mehr die neuste Spiegelreflexkamera auf dem Markt, kann aber dennoch mit einer sehr guten Bildqualität mit neueren Modellen mithalten. Videofilmer werden mit dem ebenso veralteten Videomodus wohl kaum noch Spaß haben. Für Fotografen ist sie dennoch prima.
Die im Frühsommer 2009 vorgestellte SLR ist immer noch voll auf der Höhe der Zeit und kostet nur noch 520 Euro. Sehr gute Bildqualität und ein blitzschneller Autofokus.
Der gleiche CMOS-Sensor wie in der Testsieger EOS 50D sorgt in der 500D für eine sehr gute Bildqualität. Ein schneller Autofokus und ein HD-Video-Modus runden die EOS ab.

Ein filmtechnische Mogelpackung. Die Videofunktionen sind wenig ausgeprägt, die Bilder ruckeln bei bester Auflösung.
Mehr als alle anderen Hersteller forciert Canon das Megapixelrennen in der APS-C-Klasse. Die EOS 550D löst 15.1, das Schwestermodell 550D sogar 18 Megapixel auf.
Nach Erscheinen der EOS 500D ist die immer noch erhältiche EOS 500D ein echtes Schnäppchen - und für viele noch immer die richtige Wahl.
