Product details
With the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM, you can get up close to the action. This lens is the perfect complement to the 18-55mm standard lens of your EOS and is ideal for nature, sports, and travel photography. It combines powerful telephoto zoom capabilities with excellent image quality and intuitive handling.
Optical Image Stabilizer
To ensure your shots are always razor-sharp, the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM utilizes Canon's image stabilization technology. This allows for exposure times up to 3.5 stops longer than would normally be possible handheld, without increased risk from camera shake—ideal in low light or at high zoom settings. The stabilization is disabled during horizontal or vertical panning, allowing you to easily track moving subjects with the camera.
STM Technology
The EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM features a Stepping Motor (STM) that provides continuous and quiet focusing during video recording with the EOS, as well as fast and precise autofocus for still photography. The STM focusing is so quiet that the camera's internal microphone does not pick up sounds that would interfere with audio recording during video shoots.
Impressive Image Quality
The EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM is equipped with a UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) glass element and Super Spectra coatings, ensuring sharp, high-contrast images throughout the entire zoom range. A 7-blade diaphragm enhances the quality of the out-of-focus areas, allowing your subject to stand out clearly against a blurred background.
For Great Photos
A manual focus ring allows for fine-tuning of focus at any time; the minimum focusing distance of approximately 0.85 m enables photography of particularly small subjects. A rigid front element makes it easy to use filters.
