Product details
Optical Image Stabilizer
To ensure your images are always razor sharp, the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM uses Canon's Image Stabilizer technology. This allows up to 3.5-step longer exposures than would normally be possible from the hand, without the risk of camera shake - ideal in low light or at high zoom settings. Pan Detection disables the Image Stabilizer when the camera pans horizontally or vertically, so moving subjects can be easily tracked with the camera.
STM Technology
The EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM uses a Stepping Motor (STM) to provide continuous, quiet focus when shooting video with the EOS, or fast, accurate AF when shooting still images. STM focusing is so quiet that the camera's internal microphone does not pick up any noise that would interfere with the audio during video shooting.
Convincing image quality
The EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM is equipped with a UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) glass element and Super Spectra coatings to deliver crisp, high contrast images across the entire zoom range. A 7-blade iris diaphragm enhances the quality of the blurred area so that your subject stands out clearly against a blurred background.
For great photos
A manual focus ring allows manual fine tuning of the focus at any time; the close-up limit of approx. 0.85 m allows you to shoot particularly small subjects. A rigid front element allows the effortless use of filters.
