Zwilling Hair clippers for nose and ears
Don't throw your money away on this product.
I've been trimming the ever-growing number of hairs appearing in my nostrils for about ten years, first with short scissors and then with a cheap, battery-powered device, which is nearing the end of its useful life.
This item, sold under the name Zwilling (but stamped "J.A. Henckels"), piqued my interest. I always prefer simple and mechanical over electrically-powered and soon-to-be-eWaste.
This trimmer is nicely machined from what appear to be good materials. However, the cutter guard is so thick (1 mm at its thinnest, measured with vernier calipers) that it is limited to just cutting down the longest hairs, leaving 1 mm long stubble, which is far too visible. Also, the blades only cut on the side, greatly reducing the usefulness of the tool. The cheap trimmer I've been using until now has a thin (yet strong) pressed metal cutter guard that is only 0.5 mm thick at most -- it makes a big difference -- and cuts at the end as well as the side, which I've found to be surprisingly useful.
When actuating the mechanism, each blade only goes past a single guard edge (well, one-and-a-half, but the half does nothing), which is like one closing movement of a pair of scissors. This means a trimming session takes far, far more time than with an electrical trimmer and still leaves a much poorer result.
This Zwilling item is virtually useless to me and I suppose I'm now going to buy a replacement electric trimmer that will last a few years only. But at least my nose will appear less hirsute to the close observer, which for some reason is important in our society.Â

I have been looking for something like this. Ingenious principle and, what's more, mechanical. Unlike the many electric nose hair trimmers I've tried, this one will live forever. Solidly made, self-sharpening, easy to use. 👍Â

After only a few minutes, I had removed my annoying ear and nose hairs. Unfortunately, they grow crosswise in both places, which makes using scissors very difficult. With this little device, however, that is no longer a problem. It's probably much quicker with an electric device, but that doesn't matter to me because it doesn't take very long. My only regret is that I didn't buy it much earlier.Â

Better and more environmentally friendly than the cheap electric parts. A beautifully finished industrial piece.
